How to view disk usage on WHM (cPanel) server

To check disk space being used on WHM (Web Host Manager) and identify which account is using the space, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to WHM:

    • Open your web browser.
    • Access WHM using your server's IP address or domain name followed by "/whm" (e.g., https://yourserver.com/whm).
    • Enter your WHM username and password to log in.

  2. Navigate to the "Account Information" Section:

    • In WHM, you will find a search bar at the top-left corner. Type "List Accounts" and click on the option that appears under "Account Information."

  3. View Disk Usage Summary:

    • You will be directed to the "List Accounts" page, which displays a summary of all accounts hosted on your server.
    • In this list, you can see information about each account, including its username, domain name, disk space usage, and more.

  4. Sort Accounts by Disk Space Usage:

    • By default, the accounts are sorted by username. To sort the accounts by disk space usage, click on the "Disk Used" column header. This will arrange the accounts in descending order, with the account using the most disk space at the top.

  5. Identify the Account Using the Most Disk Space:

    • Scroll through the list to identify the account that is using the most disk space. The "Disk Used" column will show the amount of disk space used by each account.

  6. Access Detailed Disk Space Usage Information:

    • To get more detailed information about the disk space usage of a specific account, click on the account's username or the "View" link in the "Actions" column.

  7. Review Disk Usage Breakdown:

    • On the account details page, you will see a breakdown of disk space usage by various components, such as email accounts, databases, files, and more. This will help you pinpoint what is consuming the most space within that account.

  8. Take Necessary Actions:

    • Depending on your findings, you can take appropriate actions to manage the disk space, such as cleaning up unnecessary files, optimizing databases, or upgrading the hosting plan to accommodate more space if needed.

  9. Repeat as Needed:

    • If you have multiple accounts on your server and want to check the disk space usage of each, you can repeat the steps above to inspect individual accounts.

By following these steps, you can easily check disk space usage in WHM and identify which account is using the most space, allowing you to take necessary actions to manage your server's resources effectively.
