How to Disk Wipe Your Dedicated Server

This knowledge-based article will guide you step-by-step on how to perform a disk wipe on your operating system (OS) on your dedicated server.

Step 1: Open Your Web Browser and Navigate to the Client Area URL

To access the client area, follow these steps:

1. Launch your preferred web browser.
   
   
2. In the address bar, type or copy-paste the following URL: https://my.rackzar.com/login
   
   
3. Press "Enter" or "Return" on your keyboard to load the webpage.

You should now be directed to the login page of the client area. 

Step 2: Click on "Services" in the Left-hand Menu

Follow these steps to navigate to the "Services" section:

1. After logging in to the client area, locate the left-hand menu.
   
   
2. Within the menu, find and click on the "Services" option. It may be listed under a navigation section labeled "Dashboard" or similar.

Once clicked, you will be directed to the "Services" page, where you can manage your subscriptions and view details about your services.

Step 3: Click on the "Manage" Button

To proceed with managing your service, follow these instructions:

1. After accessing the "Services" page, locate the service you wish to manage.
   
   
2. Within the row corresponding to the desired service, you will find a "Manage" button.
   
   
3. Click on the "Manage" button associated with the service you want to modify.

Upon clicking the "Manage" button, you will be directed to the management interface for the selected service.

Step 4: Choose Disk Wipe Option

Select the appropriate disk wipe option according to your preferences:

1. Disk Wipe (Slow, Secure): This option ensures a thorough and secure wiping of the disk, albeit at a slower pace. It provides a higher level of data security by securely erasing all data on the disk.
   
   

2. Disk Wipe (Fast, Insecure): This option offers a quicker disk wipe process but sacrifices security. While it may be faster, it's important to note that this method may leave traces of data behind and is less secure compared to the slow, secure option.

Choose the option that best aligns with your requirements for data security and time efficiency. Once you've made your selection, proceed with the next steps as needed.

Step 5: Initiate Reinstallation

After selecting your preferred version, proceed with the reinstallation process:

1. Once you have chosen the desired version, locate the option or button labelled "Start Reinstallation."
   
   
2. Click on the "Start Reinstallation" button to begin the process.

Initiating the reinstallation will prompt the system to proceed with reinstalling the selected version. Please be patient during this process as it may take some time to complete. Avoid interrupting the process until it finishes successfully.

Step 6: Start Installation

After initiating the process in Step 5, follow these instructions to proceed with the installation:

1. When you initiate the process by clicking "Start Reinstallation," a pop-up window will appear.
   
   
2. Within this pop-up window, locate and click on the 'Start Installation' button.

Clicking the 'Start Installation' button will commence the installation process for the chosen version. Please wait patiently for the installation to complete, and refrain from interrupting the process until it finishes successfully.

Step 7: As the installation progresses, you may encounter a 'Provisioning Status' pop-up window. Please avoid clicking the "Cancel Process" button during this stage, as the installation is still in progress.

Cancelling the process prematurely may result in incomplete installation or unexpected errors.

Step 8: Once the Disk Wipe process is completed, you can advance by clicking on the 'Close' button.

This action signifies the completion of the disk-wiping procedure and allows you to proceed with the next steps of the installation process.

Step 9: To confirm the completion of the disk wipe process, you can conveniently check in your client area.

This ensures that the disk has been successfully wiped and prepares it for further configuration or usage as intended.
